Uhm. I think it's sort of weird that you can't have a kid in university when it shows someone with a kid in the trailer. Please tell me why this isn't an option?

You can have a kid and attend university, you just can't live in the university housing with the kid. Just like in real life. The kid and mom in the trailer, were clearly in a study building, where anyone can go.
